Weakley's 27 leads FSU over D&E, 74-71
Nov. 20—ELKINS, W.Va. — Emilee Weakley scored a game-high 27 points and Frostburg State scored a combined 45 points through the second and third quarters to edge host Davis and Elkins 74-71 on Saturday afternoon.
It was the Mountain East Conference opener for both teams.
Weakley hit nine field goals, including three 3-pointers and was 6 of 7 from the free-throw line.
Alanna Tate added 12 points and Maggie Sharp and Jenna Muha had nine each.
The Senators were paced by Taylor Smith's 19 points and got 13 from Marissa Berlin and 12 from Alexis Smith.
Davis & Elkins (0-3, 0-1 MEC) led 15-10 after the first quarter. FSU had a two-point lead at the half, 30-28, and led 55-50 after the third quarter.
Frostburg State (2-2, 1-0 MEC) visits West Virginia Wesleyan in Buckhannon, West Virginia, on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Potomac State 91 Anne Arundel 83
KEYSER, W.Va. — All five starters for WVU Potomac State scored in double figures as the Catamounts kept visiting Anne Arundel winless on Saturday afternoon for their second-straight victory.
Kelly Ours scored 25 points on eight baskets (six 3-pointers) and 3 of 4 free throws. Talynn McDonald and Hampshire graduate Hannah Ault each scored 18, Chelcie Forrester added 15 and Elizabeth Pryor, also from Hampshire, scored 12. Forrester had a double-double with 15 rebounds.
Anne Arundel's Ayannah Graham scored a game-high 33 points and had a double-double with 13 rebounds. She had 12 baskets including two 3-pointers and made 7 of 16 free throws.
Bianca Garin added 25 points, Leila Townsend 14 and Holly Wall nine for the 0-4 Owls.
The Catamounts took control with a 24-11 second quarter that gave them a 49-35 halftime lead.
WVU Potomac State (2-1) opened its season on Nov. 4 with a 95-49 loss to Harcum College. It picked up its first win at Beaver County on Nov. 11, 80-68. They will host Garrett on Nov. 29 at 5 p.m.
Sullivan County 87 Allegany 47
CUMBERLAND — Brianna Jackson scored a game-high 32 points and Shonyae Edmonds added 19 as visiting SUNY Sullivan County was too much for Allegany College on Saturday afternoon.
Jackson sunk 12 field goals including 4 of 6 3-pointers and she was perfect at the foul line in four attempts for the Generals.
Allegany was paced by Zahriah Bumbrey's 12 points and 11 from Josie Shuke.
Sullivan led 20-13 after the first quarter and continued to pull away, leading 44-25 at halftime and 69-35 entering the final period.
The Trojans (1-4) host Prince George's on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
