WBB recap: Endyia Rogers’ 28 points keeps Oregon’s NCAA hopes alive

It was just how Washington wanted it, except for the final score.

In a slow-paced contest, the Huskies held Oregon’s offense down, but they never accounted for Endyia Rogers. The Ducks’ guard scored 28 points and brought down a career-high 11 rebounds to defeat Washington 52-50 in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament. The win also possibly punched the Ducks’ ticket into the NCAA tournament.

Oregon will now face the tourney 1-seed Stanford at 2:30 pm on Thursday afternoon.

This was a possession-by-possession game for the entire 40 minutes and for a long while, it looked like the Huskies would take their second straight game over the Ducks. But a late 9-0 run gave Oregon the 45-43 lead with three minutes left put the Ducks in a position to win.

Final Score: Oregon 50, Washington 50

Keys to the game

  • Oregon began the game on first and jumped out to an 11-2 lead on the Huskies, but after that, several defensive breakdowns brought Washington back into the game.

  • Grace VanSlooten made her first appearance in three games as she is recovering from an ankle injury.

  • Endyia Rogers kept the Ducks in the game in the second quarter. She scored nine of Oregon’s 14 points. She wound up with 13 for the half and 28 for the game.

  • Oregon was cold from the three-point line in the opening 20 minutes of action as the Ducks were just 3-of-10 from long distance in the first half.

  • It was more of the same for the Ducks in the second half, but down 43-38 in the fourth, Rogers led her team on a 9-0 run to take the lead.

  • At one point in the latter stages of the fourth quarter, Rogers went on an 8-0 run by herself and willed the Ducks to a victory.
