Watertown's Jake Olson and Aberdeen Roncalli's Andrew Gerlach capture medalist honors
PIERRE — The heat didn't stop Watertown High School's boys golf team on Tuesday.
Medalist Jake Olson fired a 6-under par 66 and Watertown finished with a 4-under 284 to win the Pierre Boys Golf Invitational at the Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre.
Host Pierre finished second at 281, followed by Mitchell (301), Brandon Valley (304), Yankton (305), Brookings (317), Aberdeen Central (323), Spearfish (325), Winner (331), Sturgis (335), Rapid City Stevens (345), Pierre JV (359), Huron (372) and Mobridge-Pollock (390).
Ty Lenards took fourth (72), Kaden Rylance fifth (73), Gabe Norberg sixth (73), Jerome Zebroski 15th (75) and Jaden Solheim 18th (75) for Watertown.
Pierre golfers Nick Bothun (70) and Sawyer Sonnenschein (71) finished second and third, respectively.
Cole Brust led Aberdeen Central, placing 10th with a 74. Kyler Senger was 39th (82), Carter Blanchard 41st (83), Jackson Ravellette 45th (84), Peyton Brust 58th (87) and Quincy Madsen (79th, 97).
Mobridge-Pollock golfers included William Blankartz (57th, 87), Jacob Zornes (69th, 91), Marques Beier (82nd, 103), Jarett Amdahl (86th, 109), Bryce Meyer (92nd, 122) and Brodie Reichert (94th, 137).
Watertown and Aberdeen Central are scheduled to compete in the Huron Invitational on Friday.

FRANKFORT — Aberdeen Roncalli captured its fifth-straight Northeast Conference Class A Boys Golf Championship on Tuesay at the Fisher Grove Country Club.
The Cavaliers shot 320 and won by 19 shots over Milbank. Groton Area was third at 341 and Redfield fourth at 371.
Andrew Gerlach of Roncalli shot a 75 to win medalist honors by two shots over teammate Finn Anderson. Owen Fischer of Milbank (78), Brevin Fliehs of Groton Area (78) and Jesse Hernandez of Roncalli (80) rounded out the top 5.
