Watertown blanks Brookings 9-0 and falls to Yankton 5-4 in triangular at Highland Park.

Watertown High School's boys tennis team capped a busy week by splitting duals against Eastern South Dakota Conference foes Yankton and Brookings on Thursday at the Highland Park courts.

The Arrows (10-6) opened the day with a 5-4 loss to Yankton before bouncing back to sweep Brookings 9-0.

"I was really proud of the kids today. It has been a long week with lots of matches and they played some great tennis to start the day against a very solid Yankton team," said Watertown head coach Ryan Zink.

"We lost four close 10-8 matches to Yankton but I was pleased with the effort from all the kids. We then went on to beat Brookings."

Curtis Sneden, Evan Meester and Tyler Dingsor each won singles matches against Yankton. Meester teamed with Justin Remmers for a win at No. 2 doubles.

Sneden, Mark Mahowald, E. Meester, Remmers, Dingsor and Joey Meester won in singles against Brookings. Sneden-Mahowald, E. Meester-Remmers and Dingsor-Sam Karst each won in doubles.

Watertown plays Sioux Falls Washington Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Brookings.
