WATCH: Robert Griffin III leave live broadcast of Fiesta Bowl after learning his wife is in labor

Saturday’s Fiesta Bowl was one of the wildest games in recent college football history. The underdog TCU Horned Frogs downed the Michigan Wolverines 51-45 to earn a spot in the national championship game against the defending champion Georgia Bulldogs.

However, another wild moment occurred on the sideline. Former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III, who was doing coverage for ESPN’s “Field Pass with The Pat McAfee Show,” took a call while on air before explaining, “Sorry, guys, I gotta go.”

Griffin’s wife, Grete, was in labor with the couple’s third child and Griffin’s fourth child. After initially being skeptical of Griffin answering a call while on air, his co-hosts celebrate with him before Griffin bolts.

In some entertaining television, an ESPN camera attempts to follow Griffin as he exits. Griffin posted the videos on his social media.

Griffin’s wife offered the following update Sunday morning.

Congrats to the Griffin family on the impending birth of their child.
