Watch as Michael McDowell, family are surprised with celebration in Daytona Victory Lane

It was a celebration more than two years overdue.

Finally, Michael McDowell got to celebrate his 2021 Daytona 500 win with his family. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and travel, they were not in attendance on that night when he claimed his first Cup Series win.

Just two weeks ago, McDowell won at Indianapolis with his family present. On Saturday afternoon, prior to the running of the Coke Zero Sugar 400, McDowell, his wife Jami, and children Trace, Emma, Rylie, Lucas and Isabella were surprised with the Harley J. Earl trophy and confetti poppers in a makeshift victory ceremony.
