Watch Kristen White walk-off Alabama softball Game 2 win vs. Tennessee in super regional

Alabama softball will live another day in the Knoxville Super Regional and the NCAA Softball Tournament.

In what was the longest super regional game in NCAA Tournament history — and with Alabama's season on the line after dropping Game 1 on Friday — Kristen White provided some fireworks for the Crimson Tide on Saturday against the Lady Vols.

Starting the inning with back-to-back hits from Lauren Johnson and Riley Valentine, the Crimson Tide had its best opportunity to end the game in a few innings. Then Kali Heivilin — who came up big herself earlier in the game by flashing her leather — was intentionally walked by Tennessee coach Karen Weekly to make the force out at home at the expense of loading the bases with no outs.

Enter White.

On the second pitch of her at-bat, the Crimson Tide sophomore left-hitter hit a chopper to Lady Vols shortstop Laura Mealer, whose throw home was too late (and sailed past home plate): Johnson scored the game-winning run, giving Alabama a 3-2 win in 14 innings.

White's hit not only marked her second hit of the day, but also (and more more importantly) helped Alabama force a Game 3 on Sunday against the Lady Vols, with a trip to the Women's College World Series on the line.

"Oh my God, it just means so much. Honestly, just being an execute for my team is the biggest thing ever and most satisfying thing ever gratifying," White told Eric Fede and Madison Shipman in postgame on the ESPN broadcast.

"I was happy when they (intentionally) walked out Kali (Heivilin). I wanted to be the one to get it done and I'm so glad that I could do that for my team today. And to bring us to Game 3 on championship Sunday."
