WATCH: DiNucci, Hendershot connect to give Cowboys late lead over Seahawks

The Cowboys may end the preseason with the victory thanks to the services of tight end Peyton Hendershot. Down six points with just over six minutes left, quarterback Ben DiNucci led the drive all the way down the field and found Hendershot in open space, and he finished the job with a couple of broken tackles before careening into the endzone for the tie before the extra point.

Hendershot leads all receivers on the night with 39 yards on three catches and has quietly snuck himself into the 53-man roster conversation. With the departure of Jeremy Sprinkle, the spot has opened up for the Indiana product. Undrafted rookies have been impressive for Dallas during the 2022 training camp, and Hendershot is one of the key success stories.

Heading into the season, the tight end room will likely be four-deep with Dalton Schultz, Sean McKeon, Jake Ferguson and Hendershot closing out the group. If Hendershot doesn’t make the 53, he could be a gameday call-up off the practice squad for the Cowboys.
