WATCH: Alabama baseball gets home runs from back-to-back batters against Tennessee
Alabama baseball started SEC play with a bang on Friday night.
Trailing No. 6 Tennessee 1-0 after the first frame, No. 12 Alabama stepped to the plate for the first time. Gage Miller struck out to lead off, but then two transfer outfielders stepped to the plate.
T.J. McCants, a senior center fielder who transferred from Ole Miss this offseason, launched a ball deep over the center field wall that was a no-doubt home run as soon as it left his bat. It was McCants' seventh home run of the season, which places him second on the team behind Miller's eight.

After McCants leveled the score, the Crimson Tide only had to wait through a handful of swings by Ian Petrutz to take the lead. Facing a 2-2 count, the junior left fielder who followed coach Rob Vaughn to Tuscaloosa from Maryland hit his second home run of the season into right field.

According to Alabama baseball's home run stats, Petrutz's home run went 412 feet, while McCants' traveled a whopping 452 feet. The back-to-back solo shots gave Alabama a 2-1 lead after the game's opening inning, and that lead would hold going into the third.
