How to watch 2021 U.S. Gymnastics Championships: Live stream, schedule, TV channel, time

With the Tokyo Olympics now less than 50 days away, the exact makeup of the U.S. women's gymnastics team – beyond Simone Biles – remains unclear.

But this weekend's U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas may help provide some clarity.

One of the last premier events before the Summer Olympics, which begin July 23, the national championships began Thursday and will conclude Sunday evening. Biles is, of course, the main attraction on the women's side, while Stanford product Brody Malone led the way for the men after Thursday's opening day, six spots ahead of two-time Olympian Sam Mikulak.

Here's everything else you need to know for the U.S. Gymnastics Championships:

How can I watch the U.S Gymnastics Championships?

After the first day of men's competition Thursday, the national championships will continue Friday with the first round of events on the women's side, from 8 to 10 p.m. ET. The men will return Saturday from 8 to 10:30 p.m. ET. Both sessions will be televised on NBC Sports Network.

On Sunday, NBC will broadcast highlights of the men's competition beginning at 2 p.m. ET. NBC will also carry the final session in the women's competition live from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Is Simone Biles competing?

Yes. Biles, a four-time Olympic gold medalist and one of the greatest athletes of her generation, is a lock to make the team for Tokyo. But she will be competing this weekend with hopes of winning her seventh national title.

Who else is competing?

Mikulak and 2017 national champion Yul Moldauer are the two main gymnasts to watch on the men's side, while the women's field features a host of stars – including four-time world medalist Jade Carey, 2017 world all-around champion Morgan Hurd and Jordan Chiles, who trains with Biles and finished second to her two weeks ago at the U.S. Classic.

Who has won the most national titles?

Alfred Jochim won six consecutive national titles from 1925 to 1930, then added a record-setting seventh in 1933. But two current competitors could match his total this weekend.

Biles and Mikulak have each won six all-around titles, and in the same years. They swept the national championships for a four-year stretch from 2013 to 2016, and won again in both 2018 and 2019.
