Warriors get rings and put Poole-Green drama to bed in win over Lakers I The Rush

The NBA season kicked off with the Golden State Warriors getting their championship rings and fending off a fierce fourth quarter comeback to beat the Lakers in San Francisco, while the Celtics defended their home court with a win over the visiting 76ers. In Major League Baseball, Aaron Judge’s big bat helped blast the Yankees past the Guardians to advance to the ALCS while the Phillies logged a Game 1 win over the Padres in the NLCS. None of the in-game drama compared to what happened off the field in the NFL, as we saw an unprecedented public squabble between Commanders owner Daniel Snyder and Colts owner Jim Irsay. Plus, Stephen Curry sent a public birthday message to wrongfully detained WNBA star Brittney Griner in Russia and TNT aired a documentary produced by Draymond Green, about Draymond Green, defending Draymond Green’s ‘Punchgate’ incident involving teammate Jordan Poole.

- And the opportunity to shout out a very special member of the basketball community. Brittney Griner's birthday is today. She's 32 years old.

[CHEERING]

We want to continue to let her name be known. And we pray that-- it's been 243 days since she's been wrongfully incarcerated in Russia. And we hope that she comes home soon, and everybody is doing their part to get her home.

JARED QUAY: The sports world truly brought all the drama yesterday, from Aaron Judge blasting the Yankees into the ALCS to the Phillies beating the Padres in game one of the NLCS. The MLB postseason continues delivering all the goods, but that wasn't all.

- Oh, really?

JARED QUAY: The NBA got in on the action with opening games of the '22/'23 season with the MLB-dunkless Celtics hosting their Eastern Conference rivals 76ers.

[CHEERING]

- Jayson Tatum is in the zone.

JARED QUAY: Meanwhile on the west coast, the Warriors are busy dropping banners and getting their championship rings before starting their season off by beating the Lakers.

- 55 games last year, scored 30 and 30-- oh, oh, oh, oh! Oh!

JARED QUAY: In his 20th year in the league, LeBron did GOAT things. But all eyes were on Jordan Poole and Draymond Green. Before the game, TNT aired a documentary about Draymond that was corny, self-serving, and made him out to be a victim of media coverage after he punched his own teammate

- Oh, you give it some time to allow people to throw their opinion out, which quite frankly, I don't care about people's opinion.

JARED QUAY: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait. Wait. Draymond says he doesn't care about people's opinions during a Draymond-produced documentary all about Draymond.

- Allow myself to introduce myself.

JARED QUAY: Yo, that's wild. But if you're looking for the biggest drama queens of the sports world, look no further than the National Football League.

- Are you ready for some football?

JARED QUAY: The NFL's shield is finally cracked.

- How?

JARED QUAY: Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder is in damage control mode after a bombshell report from ESPN suggested he'd be willing to turn on his fellow owners should they try to boot him out of the league.

- Holy [BLEEP] Holy [BLEEP]

JARED QUAY: But Colts owner Jim Irsay apparently has zero [BLEEP] to give, making the unprecedented move of publicly speaking out against another team owner. Irsan said he thinks there's merit to remove Snyder as a team owner. Of course, the Commanders responded with some digs at Irsay. And at this point, it looks like we might have a full pilot for the new Bravo series, "The Real Good Ol' Boys Of The NFL."

- Are you not entertained?

JARED QUAY: The Colts and Commanders are playing each other in Indy later this month, and I think we should skip the game and instead have Irsay and Snyder duke it out in a celebrity boxing match for charity. That would be the best thing I love, when billionaires start swinging haymakers.
