Walton/Downsville, Unadilla Valley girls notch home MAC wins

Feb. 5—The Walton/Downsville girls shut down Delhi 44-34 Monday for a key Midstate Athletic Conference win.

Eve Foster was the top scorer in the win with 10 points while Grace Walley had nine points, 13 rebounds and five steals.

Tyler Abts paced Delhi with 13 points while Natalie Vredenburgh finished with 12 points.

Walton/Downsville improves to 10-9 overall with the win.

Unadilla Valley 58, Harpursville 29

Unadilla Valley earned a 58-29 home win over Harpursville Monday in MAC play.

Natalie Crandall led the scoring for the Lady Storm with 20 points while Jaiden Schrag followed close behind with 18 points. Adrienne Hodge and Kora Johnson added eight points apiece.

Kylee Noyes, Adriana Hartman and Vanessa Card each scored seven points for Harpursville.

UV will be at Bainbridge-Guilford Friday.

Hamilton 60, Cooperstown 43

Cooperstown fell to Hamilton 60-43 on the road Monday.

Rory Nelen had 15 points and five rebounds to lead the Hawkeyes while Polly Kennedy added 10 points and five rebounds and Brenna Seamon tallied seven points and six rebounds in the loss.

Lindsey Speer had a game-high 20 points for Hamilton.

Cooperstown will visit Morrisville-Eaton Friday.

Gilbertsville-Mount Upton 36, Roxbury 20 (Saturday)

Gilbertsville-Mount Upton defeated Roxbury 36-20 in a non-league matchup on the road Saturday.

Andrea Favinger scored nine points while Mackenzie Barnes had eight points and Maddie Lockwood added seven points in the win.

Ryleigh Goodchild had a game-high 10 points for the Rockets in the loss.

G-MU will visit Worcester Wednesday in the first round of the TVL playoffs.

Greene took down Bainbridge-Guilford 37-20 on the road Friday.

Mia Yahner had a game-high 12 points while Claire Flanagan added eight points in the win.

Marissa Mayo was the leading scorer for B-G with six points.

B-G will host Oxford Wednesday.

WRESTLING

The Oneonta wrestling team earned a share of the team title at the Section IV Class B Qualifiers in Greene Saturday.

While the Yellowjackets didn't earn any individual first-place finishes, they had seven wrestlers finish in the top three in their respective classes.

Clayton Ritter (101 pounds), Isaac Gray (131), Alan Little (145) and AlanMichael Rubin (160) were each runner-ups while Beckett Holmes (138), Reilly Waltz (160) and Jayden Zakala (215) were all third-place finishers.

Walton/Delhi placed fourth as a team, with Trystan Haywood's victory at 131 pounds leading the way.

Hayden Robinson (108) and Justin Somers (116) were each runners-up, Travis Houck (152) and Jaxon Backus (170) both placed third and Saverio Prisco (124) finished fourth.

Elsewhere, Sidney's Caden Higley was the champion in the 101-pound class.

Cooperstown/Milford was also in action over the weekend in the Section III Class D-2 Qualifiers.

TJ O'Connor placed second in the 152-pound weight class, winning his first three matches before falling to Copenhagen's Tavian Camper in the title bout.

Max Koffer finished third at 116 pounds, going 2-1 in his matches. Carson Moore added a sixth-place finish at 215 pounds while Max Pelcer earned one win at 101 pounds.
