Vote for The Star Press' IU Health ECI high school basketball Athlete of the Week

It was another busy week of IHSAA boys and girls basketball involving  East Central Indiana teams.

As a result, there's plenty of worthy candidates for The Star Press IU Health Athlete of the Week (Dec. 4-10).

The nominees include: Monroe Central's Kimber Abshear, Wapahani's Isaac Andrews, Delta's Jillian Barr, Muncie Central's De'Markis Cole, Blue River's Maciah Driskill, Wes-Del's Jacob Grant, Wapahani's Megan Luce, Jay County's Molly Muhlenkamp, Yorktown's Lilly Sylvester and Kieran Tewari, Cowan's Timmy Watson, Blackford's Chloe Wicker and Delta's Jackson Wors.

Kimber Abshear, Monroe Central: The Golden Bears extended their winning streak to four games after two wins last week. Abshear has been a major contributor and averaged 11.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 4.5 blocks across two games.

Isaac Andrews, Wapahani: Andrews seems to only be getting better and is a major reason why the Raiders are 5-0 and the No. 1-ranked team in Class 2A. In two outings last week, the senior averaged 32.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Jillian Barr, Delta: Barr continues to be one of the area's best players. In two games last week, she averaged 18.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 6.5 steals and 2.5 blocks per game and tallied her second triple-double (21 points, 12 rebounds, 10 steals) of the season.

De'Markis Cole, Muncie Central: Cole continued his hot start to the season with consecutive top performances last week, both leading the Bearcats to victories. In the two outings, he averaged 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game on 63.6% shooting, and also was named one of the four Fieldhouse Classic MVP's on Saturday.

Maciah Driskill, Blue River: Driskill was a major contributor in her team's two wins last week, averaging 12.0 points, 14.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals per game.

Jacob Grant, Wes-Del: Grant had the best game of his career in his team's 90-33 win over Union (Modoc) on Dec. 8, tallying career highs in both points (20) and assists (eight).

Megan Luce, Wapahani: Luce led the Raiders to a 2-0 record last week, averaging 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Molly Muhlenkamp, Jay County: The Patriots extended their winning streak to six games after two more wins last week. The senior was a big reason why, averaging 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game.

Lilly Sylvester, Yorktown: Sylvester remains the Tigers' premiere presence inside. In three games last week, she averaged 13.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game.

Kieran Tewari, Yorktown: In three games last week, Tewari was Yorktown's leading scorer in each and averaged 17.3 points per game. He continues to be one of the area's top outside shooters.

Timmy Watson, Cowan: Cowan won its lone game last week, in large part because of Watson's 20 points and five assists.

Chloe Wicker, Blackford: In her team's victory last week, Wicker tallied 20 points and four triples, continuing her consistent scoring output to start this season.

Jackson Wors, Delta: Wors was dominant in his team's 54-52 victory over rival Yorktown on Friday, notching a game-high 23 points and the winning shot just before the final buzzer.
