Vote for The Oklahoman's Landmark Fine Homes HS girls athlete of week for Jan. 2-8

The Oklahoman's girls athlete of the week poll for Jan. 2-8 presented by Landmark Fine Homes is now live at oklahoman.com. Fans can vote before it closes at noon Sunday.

This week’s poll features nominees in basketball and wrestling. The winner of the Dec. 26-Jan. 1 girls basketball poll was Kelby Beller of Washington.

Girls basketball

Leah Bradley, Sr., Newcastle: Bradley made four 3-pointers as Newcastle’s leading scorer in the finals of the Noble Dental Lodge Classic. The Racers defeated Guthrie, 28-25, to win the tournament as Bradley received all-tournament honors.

N’Kiyah Burge, So., Douglass: Burge made the all-tournament team at the Putnam City Invitational, where Douglass finished as the runner-up. She averaged 12.3 points per game as the Class 4A Trojans went 2-1 against 6A opponents.

De’Yanna Douglas, Sr., Midwest City: Midwest City won the East Central Oklahoma Classic in Ada, and Douglas was distinguished as the tournament MVP. She has set the Bombers’ all-time career rebounding record, surpassing OU alumna Kaylon Williams.

Seleh Harmon, Jr., Norman North: Harmon received the Outstanding Player award at the Putnam City Invitational. She averaged 19.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

Caya Smith, Sr., Putnam West: Smith made the all-tournament team as Putnam West won the PCI. The OU signee averaged 12.7 points per game, including a team-high 17 in a 63-49 victory over Norman North.

Girls wrestling

Evangelina Camarena, Sr., Norman: She pinned Shantelle Nguyen of Bentonville (Arkansas) twice as she won the 190-pound title at the Inola/Army National Guard Invitational last week.

Ashley Chihuahua, Jr., U.S. Grant: She had a solid tournament at the Hilldale Invitational on Friday, winning the title at 130 pounds.

Dixie Holliday, Jr., Bethel: She won the 105-pound crown at the Hilldale Invitational on Friday.
