It is time to vote for the athlete of the week from the Tuscaloosa area for the week of May 6-10.
Hillcrest's Jamie Hughley won the girls poll last week with 63% of votes, while Bibb County's Bodie Giddens won the boys poll with 70% of votes. Nominees for athlete of the week come from the top performers the week before. Voting will remain open until noon Thursday.
Tuscaloosa area athlete of the week nominations
Baylee Appling, Northside softball, had a 3-0 record in the circle at the 4A Central Regional Tournament with one earned run allowed over 16 innings.
Jewel Brooks, Hillcrest softball, went 10-for-19 from the plate in the 6A Central Regional Tournament, scoring six runs to go with four RBIs.
Eric Hines, ACA baseball, went 5-for-6 with two RBIs, scoring three runs in the series sweep over Bibb County.
Kenna Beth Lacy, Winfield softball, went 6-for-8 from the plate with three RBIs in the 3A North Regional.
Coltyn Mitchell, ACA baseball, started on the mound in game two of the series, pitching a complete game, allowing three hits, one walk and striking out 12.
