Vote now for the Daily Leader Athlete of the Week from May 6-11

Opportunities for area athletes to excel were limited last week as rain washed out most events set for Friday and Saturday. However, there were plenty of events that did take place to create a strong list of candidates for the Daily Leader Athlete of the Week honor for May 6-11.

Each week, the Daily Leader nominates a group of stars and you get to go and vote in our poll. Coaches may email Erich Murphy at emurphy@gannett.com by 9 a.m. each Monday to submit a potential nominee who can be placed on the ballot.

Voting ends at noon on Friday.

Eleana Atkins, Lexington-Ridgeview

Atkins collected six base hits, including three doubles and drove in three runs for the week. She also reached base (HP, BB) in her two plate appearances before being lifted against Eureka, as the Minutemen went 3-1 for the week.
