Leah English voted North Jersey Softball Player of the Week for May 6-12
After four days of voting, Immaculate Heart's Leah English was selected as the North Jersey Softball Player of the Week.
The top-ranked Blue Eagles had a big week, knocking off Fair Lawn and Ramsey in the regular season and Ridgewood in the Bergen County quarterfinals after English belted a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh.
Here were the other nominees:
Sumaya Ali, Wayne Valley
The Indians had a big week, reaching the Passaic County championship game Saturday. Ali was big in the Indians semifinal win over West Milford going 2-3 with three RBIs. She also homered against North Jersey power Weehawken.
Keira Joyce, Dumont
Joyce got the 100th hit of her career this week for the Huskies and was red hot at the plate, going 14-16 with four doubles, a triple, seven RBIs, and scored 10 runs. She was also perfect in the field with 12 putouts.
Kayla Porter, Bergenfield
