Seven Garcia voted North Jersey Boys Track and Field Performer of the Week for May 6-12

After four days of voting, Hackensack sophomore Seven Garcia was selected as the North Jersey Boys Track and Field Performer of the Week.

The latest in a long line of Comet track and field stars, won the Bergen A 200 and 400 titles and anchored the Comets' 4-x-400 team to the fastest time in North Jersey this year. He also finished fifth in the 100.

Here were the other nominees:

Andrew Jeremiah Boakye

Bergen Catholic junior

The team captain leads North Jersey with the fastest 100 time and anchors the fastest 4-x-100 team, and showed off both talents in wins at the Bergen E meet. He also won the E 200 and took second in the long jump.

Charlie Denekamp

Midland Park junior

North Jersey's smallest school came closer to winning a boys team championship than they ever have and Denekamp was the primary reason. He won the 400, 800 and 400 hurdles and came within .09 seconds of winning the 200 from an unseeded heat to score 38 of the Panthers' 93 points.

Liam Paneque

Demarest junior

Paneque continues to put up huge numbers every weekend for the best team in North Jersey, with four victories in a meet becoming routine. He had the best performances of the entire Bergen meet in the long jump (23-2), triple jump (46-6 1/2) and high jump (6-4) and also won the B division 110 hurdles.

Jack Small

Old Tappan senior

He's headed for Duke to play football in mid-June but continues to be a force in track and field, extending his school record to 57-11 in winning the Bergen B shot put and also winning the discus with a throw of 161-5.
