Results: Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week
After four days of voting, Jefferson junior Kiley Shatzel was selected as the Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week.
Shatzel won the 400-meter hurdles in a school-record 1:04.1 at the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference small-school championships. She also finished second in the 400 (school-record 59.13) and the 200 and tied for third in the high jump.

Juliana Behringer
Hanover Park junior thrower
Behringer won the javelin (114-10 and discus (110-6) and finished second in the shot put (32-3) at the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference small-school championships.
Sophia Belardo
Kittatinny junior goalie
Belardo allowed 6 goals, made 16 saves, and had four ground balls and one forced turnover as Kittatinny split games against Mount St. Mary and Indian Hills.
Emma Bradley
St. Elizabeth senior distance runner
Bradley finished second in the 1,600 (school-record 5:08.29), third in the 3,200 (school-record 11:23.49) and sixth in the 800 (school-record 2:25.19), and was part of St. Elizabeth's 4x400 at the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference small-school championships.
Beau Braverman
Madison senior shortstop
Braverman went 7-for-10 with three stolen bases and three runs scored as Madison defeated Jefferson, Parsippany and Hanover Park.
Ava Castner
Hackettstown defender
Stepping into the midfield this week, Castner had an assist, six ground balls, five draw controls and five caused turnovers in Hackettstown's losses to Warren Hills and Newark Academy.
Derek Czepiel
Pequannock sophomore golfer
Czepiel birdied the first hole of a playoff to win the NJSIAA North 1 and 2, Group 1 sectional championship – and helped Pequannock capture the team title – on May 6. Czepiel shot a 3-over 38 (second) and 42 (third) as the Golden Panthers split matches with West Milford and West Morris.
Chloe Higgins
Morristown Beard senior sprinter
Higgins won the 200 and 400 meters, and was fourth in the 100- and 400-meter hurdles, helping Morristown Beard win its first Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference small-school team title.
Derek Luttenberger
Pequannock senior sprinter/jumper
Luttenberger led Pequannock to its first Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference small-school title. Luttenberger finished second in the long jump and high hurdles, led off the second-place 4x400, and also competed in triple jump.
Jake Morgan
Roxbury senior golfer
Morgan shot a 5-under 65 to capture the North 1, Group 3 individual title on May 7. He shot even par in the Gaels' two dual matches, victories against Randolph and Newton.
Luke Riordan
Hanover Park senior thrower
Riordan had a pair of personal bests to win the shot put (58-5) and discus (161-1) at the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference small-school championships.
Jack Veith
Wallkill Valley senior outfielder/pitcher
Veith went 4-for-8 with four walks, two home runs, four runs scored and four RBI as Wallkill Valley went 2-1 last week. In five innings on the mound, Veith allowed a hit, four walks and two earned runs, hit two batters and struck out 15 as the Rangers beat Sussex Tech, 13-3, on May 9.
