Salem-area athletes capped off the winter high school sports season in a big way with a championship and third place finishes in the state basketball tournaments.

This week's Maps Credit Union High School Athlete of the Week nominees are:

  • Kyleigh Brown, Silverton girls basketball

  • Cruz Veliz, Woodburn boys basketball

  • Maddie Dustin, Cascade girls basketball

  • Kaiden Ford, Cascade boys basketball

Senior Kyleigh Brown scored a team-high 22 points and had a game-high 12 rebounds for Silverton in the Foxes 61-60 overtime win over Crater in the 5A state tournament.
