Vote for the Greater Columbus high school girls lacrosse regular season player of the year
The Ohio High School Athletic Association girls lacrosse tournament starts this week, the beginning of a three-week journey that culminates in the state finals June 7 at Historic Crew Stadium.
Central Ohio teams have won every Division I championship since 2015, with Upper Arlington capturing its sixth in that stretch a year ago.
That completed a sweep of the titles, with Watterson having won its first Division II crown earlier in the day.
With the regular season finished, it’s time to determine who has been the top girls lacrosse player in central Ohio so far. Vote for your choice among the nine candidates in this poll. The deadline is 4 p.m. Friday.
In addition, keep an eye out for the annual All-Metro teams for spring sports in the days following the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards show, which is June 20 at Mershon Auditorium.
Lilly Boyle, Upper Arlington
The senior attacker leads the defending Division I state champion Golden Bears (14-2) in goals (51) and points (67) and is third in assists (16). Boyle has signed with Louisville.
Elizabeth Burgess, Columbus School for Girls
A senior midfielder and Vassar College signee, Burgess has 54 goals and 19 assists as well as 95 draw controls, 17 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. The Unicorns (8-5) are the fourth seed in Division II, Region 7.
Landyn Dayton, Pickerington Central
The senior goalie won 14 of her first 16 starts, stopping 121 of 215 shots (56.3%). Dayton caused 10 turnovers, picked up 30 ground balls and had a goal in spot time at attacker. Central (15-3) is seeded fifth in Division I, Region 3.
Marissa Dolciato, Worthington Kilbourne
A Cincinnati signee who garnered All-American honors as a junior, Dolciato has saved 102 of 207 shots (49.2%). Last year’s Division I state Goalie of the Year, Dolciato has a .469 save percentage against top 25-ranked teams, according to coach Doug Troutner. Kilbourne (13-5) is the No. 2 seed in Region 3.
Mia Harrington, Olentangy Orange
A junior goalie who already has committed to Lindenwood, Harrington has stopped 151 shots and allowed 156 goals. She also has 13 ground balls and seven caused turnovers for a Pioneers team (8-9) that competes in a rugged OCC-Central and also has played defending Division II champion Watterson.
Campbell Heald, DeSales
Heald has made an impact as one of several sophomores in the starting lineup with 44 goals, 47 assists, 56 draw controls and five caused turnovers in leading the Stallions (13-4) to the top seed in Region 7.
Maddy Paz, New Albany
The senior midfielder and Ohio State signee’s well-rounded body of work includes 74 goals, 19 assists, 57 ground balls, 112 draw controls and 24 caused turnovers. The Eagles (17-0) are No. 1 statewide and in Division I, Region 1.
Isabelle Pohmer, Olentangy Liberty
The senior midfielder and Lafayette signee has been a key to the Patriots’ ascension, amassing 74 goals, 29 assists, 73 draw controls and 41 caused turnovers through 14 games. Liberty (13-4) was Division I state runner-up in 2023 and is the second seed in Region 1.
Sophia Schwab, Dublin Scioto
The senior attacker and Detroit Mercy signee had 73 goals and 27 assists in the regular season, adding to a career that has seen her score almost 300 goals. Scioto took a 12-3 record into the Region 3 tournament.
