Brody Burgess

The Victor golfer and Class AA champion led Section V to the NYSPHSAA team championship with his runner-up performance in the individual tournament Monday at the Mark Twain Golf Course in Elmira. Burgess fired a 76-70-146 to tie Dante Bertoni of Section IV's Union-Endicott and force a playoff for medalist honors, where the Victor star lost on the first hole.

Drew Fishback

Geneva's tennis star had his best performance at the NYSPHSAA Championships with a third-place finish in the individual tournament. Fishback, seeded sixth, upset top-seeded Stephan Gershfeld of Section VIII's Hewlett. 6-0, 6-2. Fishback won his first three matches of the tourney before losing his semifinal in a competitive 6-4, 4-6, 1-6 decision, which placed him in the third-place match.

Lily Kondas

Fairport’s sophomore midfielder played three games last week and scored nine goals, none bigger than the one she scored with 48 seconds left in the second overtime of Saturday’s Class A state championship against Massapequa to make the Red Raiders state champs for the first time in school history.

Dominic Kurmis

A Northstar Christian Academy senior, he drove in the go-ahead run on a two-run single in the team's win during the Class D state tournament semifinals.

Devin Livingston

Victor’s junior midfielder scored seven goals in Friday’s Class B state semifinal, then added four in Saturday’s state championship win over Garden City in addition to her work on the draw and all the hustle on defense and ground balls to help the Blue Devils win a second straight state title.

Mikayla Mrzywka

The Penfield sophomore threw four touchdown passes in two games, including three during the Section V Flag Football Class A championship game won by the Patriots 31-6. She ran for two touchdowns during the semifinal round.

Nevaeh Ross

Friendship/Scio's junior pitcher entered the state record books after striking out 23 in an epic 13-inning, 5-3 loss to Section IV's Deposit-Hancock in Saturday's NYSPHSAA Class D championship game. Ross' 23 strikeouts are tied for the fifth highest total in state history. Ross also hit a two-run homer, doubled and worked a walk in the state title game loss. In Friday's semifinals, Ross two-hit Section III's Poland and added two hits, a double and an RBI at the plate in the 6-0 win.

Jaelyne Twomey

Fairport’s senior goalkeeper did as expected with nine saves in state quarterfinal and semifinals wins. But in Saturday’s Class A final against Massapequa, Twomey was superb in making 19 saves, including several free position stops and a big save in overtime to help the Red Raiders in their first state title.

Julia Zigrossi

The star golfer led Mercy to a third place medal at the NYSPHSAA Championships on Monday at The Edison Club in Rexford. Zigrossi shot Section V's lowest score when she tied for sixth place with a 78-74-152.
