VOTE: Asbury Park Press high school sports Team of the Week No. 2

The weather has gotten warmer and teams across the Shore are also heating up as they enter the heart of the spring sports season.

Several of the nominated teams have separated themselves from the competition through continued undefeated streaks, while others notched impressive victories to put themselves on the map. The week two poll will close on April 24 at 10 p.m.

Opening Week Winner: Howell boys volleyball took an impressive 76% of the vote after an impressive start that featured a win over a reigning state champ, St. John Vianney. The Rebels weren't able to topple another powerhouse in Southern, but bounced back from that defeat with victories over serious Shore contenders CBA and Colts Neck.

Softball - Southern

Southern softball has been on an absolute tear to start the season. The Rams are one of two remaining undefeated teams in the Shore, boasting a 6-0 record in the tougher A South division with impressive wins over Marlboro, Central and Toms River East. They face big tests this weekend, but their hot start deserves recognition.

Baseball - Toms River East

On the boys' side of the diamond, the Raiders have been the dominant force in A South with an undefeated a 7-0 start. The closest margin of victory for East was a 4-0 win as they've outscored teams 66-7, an astounding average score of 9-1. They'll face bigger tests over the next few days with two of their next three games against key rival Southern.
