Willie Clayton added 12 points for the 49ers, who sustained their second loss in a row and their third in the past four games. Pierria Henry finished with eight points and 11 rebounds.

Both teams shot well from the field, with VCU making 51.9 percent of its shots and Charlotte 51.1 percent. However, the 49ers missed 10 of their 22 free throws, and they went 1-for-7 from 3-point range. The Rams hit seven of eight foul shots, and they finished 7-for-18 from beyond the arc.
