VINCENT ZHOU: Well, any Olympics is extremely special. But when I heard that the location was going to be Beijing, I realized, like, this is going to be my golden opportunity. My parents and extended family are from Beijing, and I have lots of fans in China who I am really looking forward to hopefully going to perform for.

I think that definitely the location does carry some extra significance to it. Also worth mentioning is my free skate this year, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," is a very well-known Chinese martial arts film. And so I think that having a program that's also, I guess, culturally appropriate to-- to my person and to the location of the Olympics is pretty exciting.

Last time, I just had this-- this flame inside me that just kept burning day and night. I just felt this endless desire to, you know, to-- to live out my dreams and make the Olympic team and, you know, have the performance that I always dreamed of since childhood. And more or less, I ended up making that happen.

Through my difficulties in the 2019 season with college and then through COVID, I've had a lot of time to reflect on what I want out of skating and-- and on the 2022 Olympics, on this season. So this year, I find that flame has, returned and it's returned in full force. I-- I just have this boundless drive to want to show just how good I can be. And I think that's more valuable than anything else, is having that desire and believing in myself.
