Villanova Prep hires La Reina AD Dan Peeters to run athletic department
Villanova Preparatory School has hired Dan Peeters to lead its athletic department.
Peeters, who has been the athletic director at La Reina since 2019, will start as Villanova Prep’s athletic director on July 1.
Peeters, who previously was Bishop Diego’s athletic director from 2004 to 2019, has 20 years of athletic administrative experience locally.
He will succeed Tim Settem, who was recently hired as the men's and women's water polo coach at California Lutheran University. The Wildcats field 15 boys and girls athletic programs.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join the community at Villanova and am excited to work in concert with all stakeholders to provide the best athletic experience for their student-athletes,” Peeters said in a news release.
During Peeters’ tenure at La Reina, the Regents won Tri-County Athletic Association league titles in swimming, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. La Reina announced in January that the all-girls Catholic school will be closing at the end of this school year.
Peeters was the TCAA league president from 2014 to 2022. He is the association’s current vice president and scheduler.
He also supervised the three-fold growth of the programs at the school’s new middle school.

“We are delighted to welcome Dan to the Wildcat family,” Villanova head of school Brian Grisin said in a news release. “He will bring his extensive knowledge and 20 years of experience to ensure we continue to build a strong tradition of athletic success at Villanova Prep.”
Bishop Diego won its first section and state titles in football during Peeters’ tenure at the Santa Barbara Catholic school.
