Jesus Ferreira's hat trick powers USMNT to 6-0 win at Gold Cup

The USMNT followed up its hard-fought 1-1 draw against Jamaica, with a resounding 6-0 victory over St. Kitts and Nevis in game no. 2 at the 2023 Gold Cup.

Whereas the Yanks started rather slowly and required a late equalizer to salvage a point against Jamaica, it was an early parade to goal on Wednesday as Jesus Ferreira and Co., scored four times in a span of 14 minutes. From minute 12 to minute 25, the USMNT raced out to an insurmountable 4-0 advantage.

Djordje Mihailovic got the party started with a fine finish from near the penalty spot. Gianluca Busio sprinted to end line and cut the ball back across the face of goal, as Mihailovic arrived in the penalty area just as the ball made its way, untouched, through a sea of bodies. It was 2-0 just two minutes later after right back Bryan Reynolds hit a volley through a crowd and found the back of the net.

Two more minutes, and another goal, this time from Ferreira as he began his assault on the Sugar Boyz. It was Busio who slipped the through ball in behind before Ferreira fired home from a tight angle. 3-0 became 4-0 nine minutes after that, as Mihailovic found Ferreira in acres of space behind the defense once again.

Ferreira's hat trick came five minutes into the second half, and against it was Mihailovic who set it up with a clever pass while under pressure in the penalty area. Ferreira turned and curled his 11th USMNT goal inside the far post.

Just for good measure (and the sake of goal difference), Mihailovic added goal no. 6 in the 79th minute.

The USMNT will face Trinidad and Tobago in their final group game on Sunday (7 pm ET). As things stand, the Yanks are top of Group A by way of goal difference (+6, to Jamaica's +3).
