Upstate Super 25 high school girls basketball rankings: New team in top 5 after big week

Westside girls basketball had an impressive week and moved to No. 3 from outside the top 10 in the Upstate Super 25 high school power rankings.

The Rams (13-3) beat previous No. 3 Pickens (also third-ranked in Class AAAA by the SCBCA), 39-29; won at Easley by 22 points; and beat Butler (Ga.), 48-33, at the MLK Day Classic in Mableton, Georgia.

Westside’s only loss to an in-state team this season was Nov. 25 to J.L. Mann, 59-52. Rams freshman Khalia Hartwell averages 10.1 points and 8.4 rebounds. Senior guard Ahrianna Scott is the leading scorer with 11.6 per game.

Wren and J.L. Mann remain first and second in the rankings, respectively, and defending Class AAAA state champion Mauldin moves up one spot to fourth.
