University of North Florida women lead Clemson after three quarters before falling 84-72

Rhetta Moore scored 15 points in the third quarter and hit a 3-pointer with five seconds left in the period on Wednesday to give the University of North Florida women's basketball team a 58-56 lead over Clemson, but the Tigers rallied in the final 10 minutes to win 84-72 at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, S.C.

UNF (4-2) trailed 37-36 at halftime and took the lead in the third period as Moore hit 6 of 8 shots, including 3 of 4 3-pointers.

Box: Clemson 84, North Florida 72

Clemson (3-2) regained the lead early in the fourth period but with 8:06 left in the game, Tiffany Tolbert scored for the Ospreys to bring them within one point at 61-60.

The Tigers then went on a 17-8 run, with four players contributing. Gabby Elliott scored seven of the points and Kiara Lewis made 4 of 4 free throws down the stretch to give Clemson as much as a 10-point lead.

Moore, playing in her home state, led UNF with 29 points on 12 of 16 shooting (5 of 7 on 3-pointers) and had three assists. Jazz Bond had 23 points, four rebounds and four blocked shots to lead UNF. She scored 10 points in the second quarter to help the Ospreys make it a one-point game at halftime.

The Ospreys play at the College of Charleston on Saturday (2 p.m.) and at Auburn on Monday (8 p.m.).
