UGA OT Amarius Mims, former 5-star, enters transfer portal

Georgia Bulldogs offensive tackle Amarius Mims has entered the NCAA transfer portal ahead of Georgia’s spring game. Mims joins former five-star center recruit Clay Webb in the portal. Georgia has lost some depth along the offensive line since Stacy Searles took over for Matt Luke as offensive line coach.

Mims is a former five-star recruit from Bleckley County in Cochran, Georgia. The 6-foot-7, 330-pound sophomore was projected to be Georgia’s top back-up offensive tackle behind left tackle Broderick Jones and right tackle Warren McClendon.

Mims played in eight games for the Bulldogs during his freshman season in 2021. He is likely seeking immediate playing time at his transfer destination.

Georgia still has a significant amount of talent along the offensive line, but losing players like Mims, Webb, and SMU transfer Owen Condon hurts.

Micah Morris and Xavier Truss are considered two of Georgia’s top back-ups at the offensive tackle position. Georgia needs to stay healthy at the offensive tackle position in 2021. The Dawgs may look to the transfer portal to improve depth on the offensive line.
