Tyreek Hill sued by Instagram model who says he charged her, broke her leg. What we know

Tyreek Hill is in legal trouble once again. The Miami Dolphins wide receiver is being sued in Broward County court by model Sophie Hall, who alleges the All-Pro broke her leg during what started as a "friendly football lesson" at his home.

According to the lawsuit, Hill invited Hall to his mansion on June 28, 2023. While running football drills, she pushed the wideout backward, causing those watching to laugh. "Apparently embarrassed by his loss of stability as a result of contact by a woman," the lawsuit says his demeanor changed, and a few plays later, "Hill charged into her violently and with great force," leading to Hall breaking her leg.

Hill has been in several off-field incidents during and before his time with the Dolphins, including accusations of hitting a North Miami Beach marina employee last summer and an investigation into his then-3-year-old son's broken arm when he was with the Kansas City Chiefs. The $7 million mansion at which the most recent incident allegedly took place also caught fire in January. There's also his filing for divorce from his wife, Keeta Vaccaro, which was dismissed or settled in late January.

Here's what we know about the latest incident:

Who is Sophie Hall?

Sophie Hall is an Instagram and OnlyFans model and influencer. Her Instagram page has more than 2 million followers. Her TikTok page has more than 110,000 followers. In her bios, she calls herself an "Americanized Brit." She models for FashionNovaCURVE, the plus-size line of Los Angeles-based affordable fashion outfitter Fashion Nova.

In her posts, Hall says she is 6-foot-1 and 255 pounds. Tyreek Hill is listed as 5-foot-10 and 191 pounds.

What happened with Tyreek Hill and Sophie Hall?

Sophie Hall filed a lawsuit in Broward County court Friday, February 23. In it, she claims Tyreek Hill fractured her leg while running football drills at his home in Southwest Ranches. She is suing for battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence.

According to the lawsuit, on May 24, Hall bought a ticket for her 10-year-old son to attend Hill's football camp at Boca Raton High School on June 17. On May 25, Hill reached out to Hall in a direct message on Instagram "in a flirtatious and playful manner" that there was no way she was 6-foot-1. The two exchanged messages, including Hill saying he's "been know (sic) to be a good stepdad," and he said she should visit him at his house. He gave her his cellphone number, and after the camp, he again asked Hall to visit his house, the lawsuit states.

Hill bought plane tickets for Hall and made arrangements for her to stay at the Southwest Ranches mansion, according to the lawsuit. She was picked up from the airport and spent the better part of the day with Hill's mother and sister before Hill came back and took part in football drills with his trainer. Hall watched the session, and then Hill invited her to take part in offensive line drills.

According to the lawsuit, he instructed her to line up on the defensive line stance as he took an offensive lineman's stance and told her to try to rush the quarterback. When she did, she knocked Hill backward, causing his mother and sister and other observers to laugh. "Mr. Hill's attitude changed and he became angry," the lawsuit states, and he had them line up again, this time changing positions. She "held her own" when Hill tried to rush her, and then on the next play, "Hill charged into her violently and with great force, resulting in significant and serious injuries."

The lawsuit states Hall fractured her right leg, requiring surgery. She spent the next few days at Hill's house and claims Hill failed to provide any medical attention or treatment.

Hall is suing for $50,000 in damages.

What did Tyreek Hill say about the Sophie Hall lawsuit?

An attorney representing Hill, Julius B. Collins, said in a statement to ESPN that Sophie Hall's claims are "baseless." Collins said Hall's injuries were caused from tripping over a dog while taking part in the football drills. The dog is referenced in Hall's lawsuit, though she does mention falling over it.

Collins said they believe the lawsuit was filed to "generate bad publicity for Mr. Hill in an attempt to 'scare tactic' him into personally covering the cost of Ms. Hall's medical bills." He also said there is a pending insurance claim with the intention of "fully covering" Hall's medical bills.

What has Sophie Hall said about Tyreek Hill and her injury?

Sophie Hall hasn't said anything about Tyreek Hill, but she has posted several videos to social media chronicling her recovery. In an Instagram Reel posted July 14, she is seen using a wheelchair and crutches, showing her cast and X-rays.

"This break that happened to my leg is a pretty rare and serious break, also considered a 'career ender' for athletes," she wrote in the caption. "I always do my best to take things head on, but when I sit here and think that the average person takes 3 months to be able to properly walk again from this break my mind is blown.

"I’m so grateful for the support and love that I have, that I’m still able to have so many great reasons to laugh and smile. I don’t know what my lesson here is, but I know with every triumph there is an even greater testimony."

The post also includes hashtags for "plateau tibial fracture" and "broken leg."

On August 19, she posted a video of her in a bodysuit and crutches with the caption "OOTD Broken leg edition." On September 5, a video of her on crutches again is captioned "I'm so ready to be fully healed!! Have you ever had to be on crutches? What for and how long? #plateautibialfracture #brokenleg #healingabrokenleg #crutches #brokenlegootd." In the September post, she is speaking to the camera as she hops around on crutches and shows off a bag, but the sound is unavailable. Another video posted September 16 shows her stretching while on crutches with the caption similarly hashtagged.

What is Tyreek Hill's history with violence? Has he ever been arrested?

Tyreek Hill was dismissed from the Oklahoma State football and track teams after he was arrested on domestic assault and battery charges in December 2014. Crystal Espinal, who was pregnant with Hill's child, said he choked her and punched her in the stomach and face. Hill initially pleaded not guilty before changing to a guilty plea and eventually reaching a plea deal to serve three years' probation.

In April 2019, while he was with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hill was investigated for battery after their son, now 3, suffered a broken arm. Hill and Espinal, now his fiancée, temporarily lost custody of the child, but Kansas City police said they would not press child abuse charges.

A day later, a Kansas City TV station released audio of a conversation between Hill and Espinal in which they talked about what happened to their son. The audio led the NFL to announce an indefinite suspension the following day. In July, the NFL said it concluded its investigation and said Hill would not be suspended for any games.

On June 18, 2023, the day after the football camp at Boca Raton High School, a man working on a charter boat at Haulover Marina in North Miami Beach got into a fight when two women tried to board a boat. He said while he was telling the women to get off the boat, an argument broke out between employees and the group the women were with, which included Hill.

A man believed to be Hill slapped the worker on the back of the neck. Police said the man was pushed away from the worker before charging at the worker and having to be restrained. A settlement was reached in July, and the NFL took no disciplinary action.
