This is who Ty Law wants as Patriots coach, if Bill Belichick is out
Bill Belichick could potentially be on the hot seat with the New England Patriots struggling.
Multiple former Patriots players have weighed in as to who they want to be the next head coach, and Hall of Famer Ty Law is casting his vote for Jerod Mayo
Mayo certainly understands what it means to be a member of the organization. He was a standout player when he was drafted in 2008 from Tennessee. He ended up putting together a very respectable career, recording 802 tackles and two Pro Bowl selections. The former Patriots standout currently serves as the linebackers coach for the organization.
The head coaching buzz surrounding the former linebacker is palpable. He turned down a head coaching interview with the Carolina Panthers at the beginning of the year and elected to stay with New England.
He has been held in high regard in the coaching ranks, and that is not lost on Law, who appeared on “The Greg Hill Show” on Tuesday afternoon.
“I would like to see Jerod Mayo get the opportunity, because I think he has respect from, you know, especially around here. He has respect from players as a former player, which you know you don’t have a lot of former players,” Law said.

Time will tell what the Patriots do at the head coaching position for next season. However, there is little doubt that Mayo will have his chances at bigger coaching positions down the road.
