Ty Cobb, Marcus Hansen named to D2Football.com Elite 100

Dec. 31—BEMIDJI — Senior offensive tackle Ty Cobb and redshirt sophomore defensive end Marcus Hansen were each selected to the D2Football.com Elite 100 teams on Thursday.

The D2Football.com Elite 100 was selected by D2Football.com with input from coaches, scouts, media and sports information directors from around the country. D2football.com has compiled an Elite 100 team since its inception in 2000.

Cobb was listed in the D2Football.com Elite 100 Watch List to start the season and finished the year being named to the First Team. The accolades continue to roll in for Cobb as he was named a two-time First Team All-American this year alone by D2CCA and the Associated Press. In addition to those honors, Cobb was named to the All-Super Region 4 team and the All-NSIC First Team. He also was a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, finishing in sixth place.

Cobb started all 12 games this season and helped an offense average 30.50 points per game and 399.2 total yards per game. He was named to the All-NSIC First Team once again this season and finished his career starting 38 straight games. In over 1,400 snaps, Cobb allowed only four sacks throughout his career.

Hansen was named to the Squad D2Football.com Elite 100 team, adding to his list of accolades. Recently, Hansen was named a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award. This comes after he was named to the Associated Press All-America Second Team and was the NSIC Defensive Player of the Year. Hansen also added a First Team D2CCA All-Super Region 4 honor.

Hansen led the conference in tackles for loss and sacks during the regular season. He started all 12 games, finishing with 19 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. He also had 51 tackles and 31 solo stops. Hansen forced three fumbles and had eight quarterback hurries. He had a tackle for loss in 11 games, with multiple tackles for loss in six games. He added a sack in seven games.
