Two-week January stretch against Michigan, Minnesota highlights MSU hockey schedule

Back-to-back series with Michigan and Minnesota highlight Michigan State's 2023-24 hockey schedule, which was released in full on Monday afternoon.

The Spartans, who are coming off their first Big Ten tournament series win last winter along with a highly ranked recruiting class in the offseason, play a home-and-home series with Michigan starting at Munn Arena on Jan. 19, followed by a game at Yost Arena in Ann Arbor the following night.

MSU then gets a home series with defending Big Ten champion and national runner-up Minnesota on Jan. 26-27.

MSU's second series against the Wolverines is just a few weeks later when the teams play again at Yost on Feb. 9 before playing the "Duel in the D" the next night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Th Spartans open their season at home with two games against Lake Superior State Oct. 7-8 before traveling to Air Force for two games the following weekend. The Spartans then host Canisius for a pair before wrapping up its non-conference schedule with a high-profile road series at Boston College on Oct. 26-27.

MSU opens Big Ten play Nov. 3-4 at Ohio State, followed by its first Big Ten home series the following weekend against Penn State.

The Spartans' last action before the Christmas break will be a home series with Notre Dame on Dec. 8-9.

MSU will participate in the Great Lakes Invitational again Dec. 28-29 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids. The Spartans will meet Ferris State the first night before playing either Michigan Tech or Alaska the following day depending on results at Van Andel.

After an exhibition in early January with the U.S. National Team Development Program, MSU returns to Big Ten action with a series at Penn State Jan. 12-13.

The Spartans have a bye week on Feb. 16-17 after their second series with Michigan.

MSU ends the reular season with two games at Wisconsin March 1-2. The Big Ten tournament will then begin March 8-10.
