Minor league teams are the best, right? They are where you’ll find the most creativity with giveaways and theme nights. And there have been many, like Star Wars night, ’90s Nickelodeon night, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles night and the list goes on and on. But two of the most memorable promotions in recent history have been food-themed: the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies) have adopted bacon as their secondary mascot, and the Fresno Grizzlies (the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros) have adopted the versatile taco. There have been hats and shirts and uniforms and even entire days devoted to these food items.

But what if you had to choose between bacon and tacos? It seems crazy to have to make that choice, but that’s what the IronPigs and the Grizzlies are asking you to do. After a longtime Twitter beef between the two teams and their favorite foods, the teams are staging the ultimate throwdown, pitting their food mascots against each other in a fight for ultimate supremacy: bacon vs. tacos. They’re asking the public to cast votes on their website, and use the hashtags #teambacon and #teamtacos on social media to state their case.

The GMs of both teams have gotten in on the action. Here’s what the Grizzlies GM had to say to the Fresno Bee.

“I’m sick of your bacon! I’m sick of your Belgian waffle tacos,” Grizzlies general manager Derek Franks said in his best WWE impression at a morning news conference at Chukchansi Park./blockquote>
