These two former Gators could help your fantasy football team

Fantasy football is a balancing act. Loyalty and team pride go out the door in favor of value and production. But there are at least two former Gators worth selecting for Florida fans who haven’t drafted yet.

USA Today Sports released its top 200 overall players for the upcoming fantasy football season and Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts joins Jets running back Lamical Perine on the list.

Pitts made history in the most recent draft by becoming the highest-selected tight end of all time. With that accolade comes expectations and the No. 94 spot overall on the list. Pitts is expected to produce for Atlanta immediately and is the fifth-highest ranked tight end on the list. A quiet preseason leaves a lot to the imagination, but the speedy big man showed a glimpse of what he’s capable of in the Falcons final preseason game.

Gators fans will have to strategically plan their picks to ensure Pitts winds up as their tight end, but Perine should be easier to snag. At No. 181, and behind fellow Jets running back Tevin Coleman, Perine is a depth pick. He’s the guy you draft when the rest of your buddies leave early and auto-pick kickers.

Perine’s value does increase a bit in dynasty leagues. New York is a work in progress and stashing the former Gator isn’t the worst idea.
