Twitter reacts to Penn State’s NCAA Basketball Tournament loss to Texas

Cinderella came out from Disney in 1950, four years before Penn State would lose the NCAA Tournament national title game to La Salle. That movie lasted just one hour and 15 minutes. The 2023 version of the Nittany Lions saw a Cinderella run that started back in October.

They were never supposed to make it to the second round of the tournament and push the No. 2 seeded Texas Longhorns to the edge. Heck, they weren’t even supposed to be dancing but here they were.

Social media was well aware of the fact that this was a special season for Penn State and everyone did their part to embrace it while also reacting to the stages of the game.

Great atmosphere in Des Moines

The arena was full of blue and white and the fans let everyone know who they were pulling for all game long. Texas had their section obviously but the general fans in attendance were pulling for the upset.

We are...

While the football team got their spring practices in, they were very aware of the battles going on in Des Moines and Tulsa with the Nittany Lion basketball and wrestling squads.

The last lead they saw...

Penn State appeared to have Texas on the ropes after they made a costly air to go down three points on the play mentioned above. From there though they would call a timeout and collect themselves and never look back.

Not ending everyone wanted

It wasn’t the ending everyone had hoped for but it was an unexpected journey nonetheless. Penn State falls to Texas by five but they fought to the very end including a late four-point play by [autotag]Seth Lundy[/autotag] with seconds to spare and the decision in hand.

Putting the season in perspective

No one expected Penn State to achieve as much as they did. They never quit, they made the Big Ten tournament final, and they made the second round of the NCAA tournament. This team was full of promise from the get-go and they never quit.

Thank you Seniors

A special group of Seniors will be leaving State College after tonight’s game. Four of the starting five were seniors and now the program will hope the experience this season brought to the group will be utilized to make everyone better in the longterm picture.

Players and coaches say thank you

Coaches and players stayed after the final buzzer to thank the fans for the atmosphere and the energy they brought for the tournament. It played a major part in the magical run everyone experienced.
