Tuesday's high school roundup: Bow hands Portsmouth field hockey first loss of season

PORTSMOUTH - The Portsmouth High School field hockey team suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday afternoon as Bow beat the Clippers, 4-0 in a Division II contest at Tom Daubney Field.

Bow is 3-1 on the season, while Portsmouth is 2-1.

Down 3-0 at halftime, the Clippers were able to generate more scoring chances in the second half, but couldn't find the back of the net,

Portsmouth is back in action on Friday at Merrimack Valley.

YORK, Maine - York goalie Natalie Dickson had 21 saves in this Class B South loss. Defensively, Sarah Orso and Lindsay Rivers starred for the Wildcats.

MANCHESTER - Winnacunnet's Zane Lepere scored on a corner kick by Nate Kelley in this Division I loss.

Winnacunnet goalie Tyler Blank had four saves.

PLAISTOW - Anton Folger, with an assist from Cameron Bastien, scored the lone goal of this Division I win for the Red Raiders.

Defensively, Spaulding's Nate Devine and Mike Kimble shined in front of goalie Eli Benjamin.

PENACOOK - Logan Piller scored both goals for Oyster River (4-0) in this Division II win for the Bobcats. Max Scopel and Cam Monette both had an assist.

NEW IPSWICH - Alex Brown, on an assist from Jacob Pincince, scored the lone Somersworth goal in this Division IV loss.

Somersworth goalie Lincoln Godzik had 12 saves, while William Sneddon had 13 solo tackles.

St. Thomas Aquinas 3

Manchester West 2

DOVER - Angus Forman, Owen Simas and Aaron Page all scored a goal for the Saints in this Division III win. Simas and Ryan Whiting both had an assist.

Traip Academy 3

Poland 1

POLAND, Maine - Ivan Blanco had two goals, and Adrian Cunningham had one for Traip (2-1) in this Class C South win. Israel Gonzales had one assist for the Rangers, who got five saves from goalie Jack Downs.

HAMPTON - Maitri Clifford had a goal and two assists, while Sophia Guimaraes, Mia Lantaigne, and Caitlyn Koutalidis each had a goal for Winnacunnet in this Division I win for the Warriors.

Liana Pacheco, Moxie Clifford, and Sophia Kontos all played well for WHS.

YORK, Maine - York's Isabelle Young tied this Class B South game with 5 minutes left. Grace Badger gave Wells the lead with just 20 minutes left in the first half.

PCA 3

NEWMARKET - The Mules had six different goal scorers in this Division IV win, improving to 3-0.

Jillian Long, Olivia Blackadar, Mairead Moore, Paige Sweitzer, Haiden Joe and Emma Walkowiak all scored for the Mules.

Blackadar had three assists, while Amaya Beckles and Kara Dobberstein both had one. Defensively, Amelia Raab and Allison Burke played well in front of Joe and Dobberstein, who split time in goal.

GOLF

Portsmouth places second in four-team match

CONCORD - Briggs Williams shot a 2-over-par 38, leading the Clippers in a four-team match at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.

Bow won with a score of 191, while Portsmouth (201), Hollis-Brookline (217) and Goffstown (238) placed second through fourth, respectively.

Portsmouth's Shea Harrison, Grey Gagnon, and Turner Leduc all had a 4-over-par 40, while teammates Noah Weeks and AJ Struble both shot a 43.

Dover's Fennessy shoots 1-under par-34

DOVER - Junior Carys Fennessy shot a 1-under-par 34, leading Dover to a three-team win at Cocheco Country Club.

Dover had a team score of 196, while Spaulding (210) and Pinkerton (228) placed second and third, respectively.

Dover's Ben Larson and Jon Dumais shot a 37 and 38, respectively, while teammates Tyler Buchanan (43) and Gavin Bernard (44) rounded out the scoring.

Winnacunnet wins four-team match

NORTH HAMPTON - Jimmy Schouller shot a 1-under par 34, leading Winnacunnet in a four-team match at Sagamore-Hampton Golf Club.

Winnacunnet had a team score of 186, while St. Thomas Aquinas (194), Pembroke (217) and Alvirne (223) placed second through fourth, respectively.

Chris Berry shot a 36 for the Warriors, while June Doerr and Josh Bezey both had a 38, and Drew Marelli had a 40.

For St. Thomas, Cameron Cunio had a 37, Will Mollica had a 38, and Lindsay Butkus shot a 39. Teammates Carlos Guernard and Connor Gray both had a 40.

BERWICK, Maine - Marshwood's Noah Fitzgerald shot a medalist round of 44 at the The Links at Outlook.

VOLLEYBALL

SOMERSWORTH - The Hilltoppers improved to 2-0 on the season with this Division III win.

Individual game scores were 25-5, 25-8, 25-9.

Sophomore Savanna Comeau had 18 service points, while junior Lillie Hamilton (14 service points), junior Aby Lambert (12 assists) and freshman Paige Demers (four kills) led the win.
