Saturday high school results: Hoover, Louisville girls basketball, Perry boys wrestling win

BOYS WRESTLING

PERRY 52, BRECKSVILLE 9 In a match featuring two nationally-ranked teams, the Panthers won big. Perry, ranked 17th in the nation by MatScouts.com, got pins from Lincoln Rohr, Liston Seibert, Nate Dulcie, Marshall Geckler, Mike Millin and Aidan Fockler. Also for Perry, Charles Curtis recorded his 100th career win with his victory at 138 pounds. Brecksville, which beat another Ohio powerhouse (Wadsworth) on Friday night, is ranked 46th by MatScouts.com.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

HOOVER 42, MAYFIELD 30 Zoe McCort scored 21 points and the Vikings won on the road for their third straight victory. Olivia Yocum added 10 points for a Hoover team that started the season 0-8 before winning its last three.

LOUISVILLE 51, SALEM 41 Courtney Barwick and Brooke Haren scored 14 points apiece and Taylor McCully added 13 points to lead the Leopards to their 10th win of the season.

BOYS BASKETBALL

CENTRAL CATHOLIC 65, COVENTRY 50 Brothers Luke and Lance Vlacovsky combined for 31 points as the Crusaders won at home. Luke scored 16 points and Lance 15 for Central (6-4), which bounced back from a home loss to Ursuline the night before. Jonathan Stangl added 11 points and Gavin Layman scored 10.

Ja’Corey Lipkins scored 19 points and Reese Zerger finished with 15 to lead GlenOak (7-1, 4-1), which has won six straight. Josh Coffield had a game-high 19 points for Lake.

JACKSON 71, PERRY 54 Kyle Monterrubio scored 21 points for the Polar Bears, who pulled away to a win over the Panthers. Jackson outscored Perry 39-24 in the second half.

WEST BRANCH 56, ALLIANCE 51 The Warriors rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to beat the Aviators. Jaxon Robb led West Branch with 19 points and four steals. Gavin Gregory finished with 13 points. Cooper Anderson had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. K’Vaughn Davis led Alliance with 16 points.

MALVERN 87, NEWCOMERSTOWN 38 J’Allen Barrino scored 16 points to lead six Hornets in double figures as Malvern improved to 10-0. Malvern raced out to a 34-15 lead after one quarter and cruised to a win on a night the school celebrated head coach Dennis Tucci’s 600th career win. Tucci won his 600th game Tuesday at Maysville. Rodney Smith scored 13 points for the Hornets. Mitch Minor finished with 12. Jared Witherow scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds. Eric Swain and Drake Hutchison finished with 10 points apiece.

Tucci is 506-220 as Malvern’s head coach. Rodney Smith scored 13 points and Drake Hutchison and Mitch Minor added 11 each for Malvern (9-0), which shot 54.5 percent from the floor. Alex Bobb hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 30 points for Maysville (5-3). Jordyn Watson scored 14 points and Gator Nichols added 13 for the Panthers (5-3).
