Trevor Siemian: 3 things to know as NY Jets are reportedly signing the veteran quarterback

The New York Jets are adding a veteran quarterback to their roster.

Trevor Siemian is signing with the team, pending a physical, according to a tweet by Adam Schefter, citing sources.

The move comes two weeks after Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in the first four minutes of his Jets debut against the Buffalo Bills.

Zach Wilson has since taken over the job, but has not impressed over his last two starts in losses to the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots.

Here are three things to know about Siemian:

Trevor Siemian played for Jets in 2019

Siemian was on the Jets roster in 2019 and started against the Cleveland Browns on a Monday Night Football game in Week 2 when starting QB Sam Darnold was out with mononucleosis. Siemien injured his ankle in that game, and it ended his season.

Another NFL stop for the journeyman QB

Siemian, who played at Northwestern in college, has been on seven different NFL teams since his rookie season in 2015: the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Jets on two occasions now. He was a member of the Broncos' Super Bowl 50 championship team, though he was inactive for the big game.

Siemian's last stop was with the Bengals. He signed with Cincinnati in May, but was released in August before the 2023 season started.

2016 was Siemian's highlight NFL season

After Peyton Manning retired from the Broncos, Siemian won the job in Denver and started 14 games in 2016. He threw for over 3,400 yards and 18 touchdowns as the Broncos finished 9-7.

Siemian's career record as a starter is 13-17, and he hasn't won a game since the 2017 season with the Broncos when he went 5-5.
