Top Performers: See who dominated during high school track and field state championships

We are at the end of the spring sports season with softball and baseball deep into postseason play. Here’s a list of the Montgomery-area high school top performers from the week's action.

Track and Field State Championships

Montgomery Academy’s Isabella Johnson Isabella won the state title in shot put with throw of 40-feet, 1/2 inch. She also finished runner-up in discus.

Montgomery Academy’s Skyler Stoval won the state title in the high jump at 6-6.

Trinity’s Matthew Blake won the title in the 1,600 meters.

AHSAA Baseball playoffs

Prattville Christian’s Blake Bowman finished with six strikeouts in a 3-1 playoff loss to Providence Christian.

Trinity baseball fell short in the third round falling to Bibb County in a 2-1 series to end its 2024 season.

Boys Golf

Montgomery Academy’s golf team finished first in Sectionals on Monday at Arrowhead and will advance to Substate.

Jackson McIntyre was Tied for low medalist for the tournament shooting 75. Barns Trott finished in the top four individuals and will advance to Substate.

Girls Soccer

Saint James defeated Tuscaloosa Academy, 9-0, in the quarterfinal round of the 1A-3A playoffs on Friday afternoon. Katie Brightwell recorded five goals and two assist in the contest along with Natalie Barton, Molly Phillips, Mary Grace Hixon, and Hope McCain all adding a goal each. Hixon recorded three assists along with Barton, McCain and Elliette Barton each adding an assist. They’ll next play Saint Luke's Episcopal in Huntsville in the semifinal round of the 1A-3A playoffs.

Montgomery Academy girls defeated Spanish Fort 2-0 to clinch a spot in the Class 6A state semifinals.

Boys soccer

John Allen Lachney scored the game-winning goal to propel the boys team to a 3-2 victory. They fell short to Spanish Fort 1-0 in overtime in the Class 6A third round.

Softball

Prattville Christian Academy clinched their 10th consecutive area title after defeating Dallas County 12-0 in four innings. Alivia Messick had a no hitter and 11 strikeouts. Kandice Crosby added four RBIs. In game two, Laura Beth NeSmith had 10 strikeouts and gave up one hit. Crosby had a double and a home run and five RBIs. Paisley Bayer finished with two RBIs. Sara Payton Schmidt hit a solo home run.

Pike Road’s Kennedy Cuthbert finished with three RBIs in a 15-0 victory over Park Crossing. Anna Williams surrendered three hits and struck out three. Addison Belyeu added two RBIs.
