Top NHL draft prospect Kaapo Kakko scores gorgeous goal in Finnish Elite League
Much has been made about NHL prospect Jack Hughes, and rightfully so. Almost any publication you come across has the American centre ranked number one in the upcoming draft while the mantra ‘Lose For Hughes’ has become a popular tagline for many teams floundering at this point of the season.
However, Hughes’ hold on the top spot may not be as unanimous as it once was. Finnish winger Kaapo Kakko has taken his game to another level as of late and will make the decision as to who should be the first selection in the 2019 draft a lot harder.
And it’s offensive displays like this absolutely gorgeous marker that will have teams mulling over their choice come June.
#SMLiiga: RW Kaapo Kakko (Ranked No. 2) scored twice — No.‘s 17 & 18 — as TPS blanked Kalpa 2-0. I mean, this isn’t just some hot streak. He’s been this good all year.
Eyes say Hughes. Gut now says Kakko. Very tough call.

Kakko — who is playing against grown men in SMLiiga, Finland’s top league — has been producing at an incredible rate. In his last five games, the 18-year old has notched six goals and eight points.
Regardless of whether Hughes or Kakko goes first overall, the team picking second will nab itself a nice consolation prize.
