Walled Lake Northern 2019 OL-DL Spencer Brown:

Brown certainly passes the eye test with his size, at 6-6, 270-pounds. He worked out on both sides of the ball, and is still a work in progress. Brown had some effective reps at defensive end, but often found himself playing too high. Offensive tackle is likely the position he will play at the next level, as he fits the mold of today's offensive tackle: tall, lean, and athletic. He also plays basketball, which tells you just how good of an athlete he is, and can be.

Detroit East English Village Prep 2019 DB-WR Elija Griffin:

In the wide receiver vs. defensive backs drill, Griffin made sure he was noticed. The 5-11, 160-pounder consistently made sure he got reps in, and made the best of them. At wide receiver, Griffin was quick off the line, he ran precise routes, and caught the ball with strong hands. At cornerback, Griffin's likely position, he consistently stayed on his man, did not allow many passes to get caught on him, and was one of the more aggressive defensive backs at the camp. He started last year for Rod Oden's Bulldogs this past season, and will have a much bigger role in 2017.

Walled Lake Western 2020 WR Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen:

A large majority of wide receivers at the camp ran one route: a fly route. Yaseen stood out with his arsenal of routes, and ability to catch. Yaseen displayed good feet, and got in and out of his routes. The most impressive thing about Yaseen's day was the several back-shoulder passes he caught in one-on-ones. At 6-0, 150-pounds, Yaseen has pretty good size for a freshman, and played on varsity at Western. His name will continue to create a buzz in the coming years.

Oak Park 2019 QB Dwan Mathis:

In a loaded quarterbacks group, Mathis was one that performed well over the rest. He might have thrown the best deep balls to wide receivers on the day. Being 6-4, with a big arm certainly helps with that. All quarterbacks look good when no one is rushing them, but Mathis is still one of the better sophomores in the state. He holds offer from Kentucky, Iowa State, Akron, and Cincinnati. Mathis is also a good basketball player, and has the attributes to play wide receivers as well.

Southfield A&T 2019 RB Arthur "Lew" Nichols:

In Southfield A&T's first year of existence, Nichols had a breakout year with other standout running back Eric Mcarn sidelined due to an injury. He carried that over to the Rising Stars camp, impressing in 1-on-1 drills. Catching the ball was the main issue with a lot of running backs at the camp, but Nichols looked comfortable doing so, and was quick out the backfield. He does not have the body of a sophomore at 5-11, 190-pounds, and has plenty of time to become a really special player.

Detroit Martin Luther King 2019 DT Jalen Bell:

King repeated as Division 2 state champs this past season, shutting out Walled Lake Western 18-0. The defense that game was as impressive of a performance as I have seen, and the defensive line was a huge reason why. Bell played in the middle for King, and had a productive sophomore year. He is a bit short at 5-11, but he did not let that hamper him at the camp. He used that leverage and his strength to get by his blocker, and was unstoppable when he bull-rushed. King coaches love Bell, and so do we. He has the chance to be special as a pass-rusher.
