I'm Russ Dorsey and here are my top five nl rookies right now.
Number five, Jackson Merrill, the Padres top prospect has held his own in his first year in the big leagues and shown a lot with his speed and defensive prowess in infield.
Number four, Joey Ortiz, part of the return for Corby Burns Ortiz has been a big part of the brewers' offense this year and it started hit third in Pat Murphy's lineup.
Number three, Jared Jones in his first season starting in Pittsburgh.
Jared Jones has been one of the elite strikeout artists in major league baseball and his top 10 in both whiff rate and strikeout rate.
Number two, Yoshinobu Yamamoto after a rough start in his major league debut.
Yamamoto has been everything the Dodgers thought he would be showing off his elite fastball and great secondary stuff in his last eight starts.
Yamamoto has a 2.31 a number one shoe, Yana Imana has been the best starter in major league baseball this season.
He currently leads the big leagues in, er, a and if not for Shoe Otani, he may be the best free agent signing in this off season.
