Tobias Harris discusses breaking out of his slump for Sixers offense

The Philadelphia 76ers rely so much on Tobias Harris to be a go-to scorer in the half-court offense and when he goes into a bit of a slump, they need him to be able to bust out of it quickly. He was able to do so Monday in their win over the Chicago Bulls as he was able to close it out down the stretch.

After shooting a dreadful 3-for-10 from the floor on Sunday, Harris was able to bounce back and shoot 10-for-13 from the floor overall on Monday. He made all three of his attempts in the fourth quarter in order for Philadelphia to close the game out.

That is a far cry from Sunday as he was able to get back into his rhythm again.

“Just play my game and play in a flow,” he explained. “Try to do whatever I can get some easy ones and get in a rhythm, but I’ve always been a player who goes as the team flows and team rhythm goes. I don’t try to force too much. That has worked for me all year long.”

The biggest thing about Harris’s success is being able to work his way into his spots and be able to get the job done in that area of the floor. He is so efficient and effective on almost every spot of the floor and his goal has to be to get into those spots and work his way into the game.

“In times where shots may not be falling or the rhythm isn’t there, just settle down and let the game come to me in the best way possible,” he added. “You can’t get too discouraged in anything. It’s basketball and at the end of the day, I know my game. I know what I do best out there on the floor and just get into those spots.”

It is also important that Harris has a different mindset this season. Coach Doc Rivers has had him focus on going downhill to the basket and making quicker decisions. He has been able to do that in a big way all season and that has helped his game find consistency.

“I think being able to finish at the rim is huge for my success,” Harris finished. “It allows me to get to my mid-range and just make plays at the basket downhill. That’s been big for me this whole year.”

The Sixers will finish the road trip on Wednesday against the Houston Rockets as they look to sweep all three games on the trip.
