Titans’ Rashaan Evans fined for punching Broncos’ Jake Butt in Week 1

Tennessee Titans inside linebacker Rashaan Evans may have avoided a suspension for punching Denver Broncos tight end Jake Butt in Week 1, leading to an ejection, but it will cost him some money.

Evans was fined $10,500 for the punch, according to Paul Kuharsky, which happened in the first quarter of the Week 1 contest.

Thankfully for Evans, the Titans were able to overcome losing their starting inside linebacker to still win the game.

Following the contest, Evans explained what happened and expressed remorse to his teammates for letting them down.

“It was basically an overreaction after the play. A little bit after the whistle, there was a little tussle and I ended up overreacting by hitting him,” Evans explained. “But at the end of the day, man, I’ve got to keep playing, get ready for next week and basically make up for it. I was able to have an opportunity to apologize to the rest of the guys to say that I was going to make up for it. All I can do right now is just keep doing what I’ve been doing and stay focused.”

Evans wasn’t the only player from that game to get fined, though. Broncos inside linebacker Josey Jewell was fined $5,462 for unnecessary roughness against the Titans.
