Tift County hosts first track quad meet of 2024

Mar. 1—TIFTON — Tift County hosted its first quad track meet Wednesday, Feb. 28, joining five other teams at TCHS.

No team scores were kept.

Tift runners had the top three spots in the boys 1,600. Russ Benton crossed the finish line in 4:57, with Blair Golden at 5:02 and Owen Davies at 5:04. The Lady Devils pulled the same trick, Ava Wilson, Lola Reynolds and Emmalyn Lukas the first three to finish in their 1,600. Wilson and Reynolds were neck-and-neck 6:26 and 6:29. Lukas crossed in 6:52.

Jordan Gaskins won the 110 hurdles in 16.55 seconds and Antonio Burgess was tops in the 300 hurdles in 41.83 seconds.

Illianna Cleveland blew away the competition in the 800-meter run. Cleveland's time was 2:41, with second place a distant 3:02.

Top two places in the 100 hurdles went to Lily Bruce and Aziyah Locett in 18.48 and 18.6 seconds, respectively.

Ahmadre Woods jumped far and wide to win two events at the quad. He cleared 6 feet to win high jump and 20-11 for first in the long jump. Teammate Taylan Morrow was second in long jump at 20-2.5.

Bailee Williams won shot put at 38-5 and placed second in discus at 92-11.5

Jabari Jones and Anthony Falatico were 2-3 in the 800-meter run, Jones running in 2:14 and Falatico in 2:21. Myanna Walton and A'myriona McTear were 2-3 in the 400, with times of 1:10.0 and 1:10.2. McTear was also second in the 300 hurdles and Walton was runner-up in long jump.

The Devils swept relays: the 4x200 boys relay in 1:31, the 4x400 in 3:40 and the 4x800 in 9:08. The latter saw them finish 32 seconds ahead of second place Colquitt County. The Lady Devils won the 4x400 in 4:37 and the 4x800 in 11:24 and were second in the 4x200.

Girls 100: Nakia Pierce (6th) and MaKayla Johnson (10th).

Boys 200: Davie'on Dixon (10th).

Girls 200: Taliyah Thomas (3rd).

Boys 400: Myron McTear (5th).

Girls 400: Maliah Walton (7th).

Boys 800: Jaxson Hughes (6th).

Boys 1,600: Henry Anderson (6th) and Kason Horner (8th).

Girls 1,600: Keira Gibbs (6th).

Boys 300 hurdles: Da'jon Hayes (4th) and Tyrique Wallace (8th).

Girls 300 hurdles: Bruce (4th) and Lockett (7th),

Boys high jump: Jamari Johnson (5th).

Girls high jump: Bruce (2nd) and Makayla Bryant (2nd).

Boys long jump: Johnson (5th), Trendon Miller (8th) and Myimmanuel Sanders (9th).

Boys pole vault: Hughes (3rd) and Anthony Pace (3rd).

Boys discus: Kaleb Lewis (5th) and Rylan Pearman (8th).

Girls discus: Debraysia Doward (3rd) and Akele Brown (4th).

Boys shot put: Cayden Dawson (4th), Lewis (8th) and Oguniana Nuga (9th).

Girls shot put: Trinity Long (6th).
