Thursday's Top Prep Performers: St. Bonaventure softball, Grace Brethren baseball win titles

Highlights from Thursday in high school sports:

SOFTBALL

  • Rachel Godoy went 4 for 4 with a three-run home run and six RBIs, Delilah Ramirez was 2 for 3 with three RBIs, Janessa Brown went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Mercedes Navarro was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Laura Lynch went 2 for 3 with a double as St. Bonaventure (19-2-1, 7-1) defeated Foothill Tech 14-4 in five innings to clinch the Tri-Valley League championship in its final game of the regular season.

  • Kadyn Sanchez pitched a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts, Sophia Grace Castorena delivered a walk-off hit, and Aleh Martinez went 2 for 3 to lead Santa Clara (10-11, 5-4) to a 1-0 win over Grace Brethren in a regular-season finale. The Saints finished third in the Tri-Valley League, while the Lancers (16-3-2, 6-2) settled for second place after having a chance to earn a share of the league crown.

  • Samy Gallegos was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Amanda Baldwin and Liv Tirsch each went 1 for 3 with two RBIs, Mia Morera was 1 for 4 with an RBI, Brown went 2 for 4, and Presley Watters allowed one earned run in six innings to lead Westlake (17-7) to a 9-2 win over Simi Valley in a nonleague game.

BASEBALL

  • Lucas Martinov went 3 for 6 with a double, triple and four RBIs, Kyle Zahn was 3 for 5 with a two-run home run, Nico Kajiwara went 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs, Alex Van was 3 for 6 with a double and two RBIs, Nate Slaton went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs, Jake Barrett was 2 for 5 with two RBIs, Ben Solomon had a hit and two RBIs, and Noah Cooper went 2 for 4 with an RBI and played all nine positions as Grace Brethren (13-12, 7-0) defeated Bishop Diego 25-1 to clinch the outright Tri-Valley League title.

  • Colt Franklin was 3 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs, Nate Lajoie was 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI, Max Peters finished 1 for 5 with three RBIs, Jason De La Paz was 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI, and Ricky Estrada went 2 for 5 with an RBI to lead second-place St. Bonaventure (11-13-1, 5-2) to an 11-5, eight-inning win over Dunn in a Tri-Valley League game.

  • Jesse Beer allowed three hits and one run while striking out seven in five innings to improve to 5-0 on the season, Dillon Marrisett had two RBIs, Nolan Johnson was 2 for 4 with a double, Nate Johnson had a double, and Johnny Backus went 1 for 3 with an RBI as Marmonte League champion Westlake (23-4, 12-3) finished league play with a 4-2 win over Oaks Christian. James Latshaw allowed one earned run in four innings, Quentin Young and Carson Sheffer each hit solo homers, and Jack Laubacher went 2 for 3 for the Lions (14-3, 9-6) in their regular-season finale.

  • James Luderer was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, John McDermott went 3 for 5 with two RBIs, Max Fernandez went 3 for 4 with an RBI, Dane Holt was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and Jaden Kolkowski was 3 for 4 and allowed one earned run in 4.1 innings to lead Thousand Oaks (10-17, 3-12) to an 11-5 win over Newbury Park in the season finale for the Lancers. Luke Medhurst was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI, Tyler Field was 2 for 3, Paul Lizzul was 1 for 4 with an RBI, and Nathaniel Nunez had a double for the Panthers (15-12, 6-9), who finished fourth in league.

  • Devon Wilkes allowed five hits while striking out four in six scoreless innings and was 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs, Johnny Sifuentes went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Dario Navarro, Jordyn Gonzales and Elijah Pizano each had a hit as Pacifica defeated Oxnard 7-0 to set a program record with its eighth straight win. The Tritons (15-10-1, 9-5) finished tied for third in the Channel League and will finish their regular season with a nonleague game at home against St. Bonaventure on Saturday. The Yellowjackets (11-13, 4-10) will finish their season with a nonleague game at Golden Valley on Saturday.

  • Damien Valdez was 1 for 4 with an RBI and Josh Cardenas, Mario Franco and Gavin Samora had hits for Rio Mesa in its 4-1 loss to San Marcos in a Channel League game. The Spartans (16-8-1, 9-5) finished tied for third in the Channel League and will end the regular season with nonleague games Friday and Saturday.

  • Carter Kimble was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Ethan Miller had an RBI, and Caleb Sebek and Jon Gurrola had hits for Ventura (12-15, 6-8) in its 4-3 loss to Santa Barbara in a Channel League finale.

  • Andy Carrillo was 1 for 3 with two RBIs, Brody Kaylor went 2 for 3, Mason Trigo was 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Erick Barron was 1 for 4 with an RBI for Buena (4-22, 2-12) in its 12-5 loss to Dos Pueblos in a Channel League finale.

  • Santiago Ramirez pitched a three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and no walks, Julian Perales went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Angel Casimiro was 2 for 3, Alex Tobias went 1 for 4 with two RBIs, and Tyler Antwine was 1 for 3 with an RBI as Santa Paula defeated rival Fillmore 7-0 to finish unbeaten in Citrus Coast League play. The Cardinals (15-9), who went 12-0 in league for their program-record third straight league title, will end the regular season with a nonleague game against Rio Mesa at home Saturday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFFS

  • Oak Park defeated visiting Windward 26-24, 25-23, 22-25, 25-12 in a Division 3 first-round match. The Eagles will host San Clemente in a second-round game Saturday night.

  • Westlake defeated host Gahr 25-17, 24-26, 25-17, 25-19 in a Division 4 first-round match. The Warriors will host Claremont in a second-round game Saturday night.

  • JF Referente finished with 17 kills, seven digs and three aces, Daniel Shander had 17 kills, eight digs and an ace, Adael Perez had eight kills and three blocks, Macen DeCoste had six kills, and Dom Vicente contributed 23 digs to lead Rio Mesa to a 21-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-14 win over Desert Christian in a Division 5 first-round match in Lancaster. The Spartans will host Village Christian in a second-round match Saturday night.

  • Camarillo defeated host Beverly Hills 25-20, 25-16, 25-21 in a Division 5 first-round match in Lancaster. The Spartans will host Sage Hill in a second-round match Saturday night.

  • Royal lost 25-17, 25-14, 25-19 to host Santa Margarita in a Division 2 first-round match.

  • Marmonte League champion Newbury Park lost 18-25, 25-14, 27-25, 25-23 to visiting La Serna in a Division 4 first-round match.

  • Nordhoff lost to host Saugus in straight sets in a Division 5 first-round match.

BOYS GOLF

  • Malibu clinched the Citrus Coast League title during the final league tournament at River Ridge Golf Course. Graydon Phelps, Shelby Woodman, Austen Gasser, Fergus Flanigan and Hank Norby earned all-league first-team honors for the Sharks. Charlie Schurmer of Nordhoff was the medalist with a 37 and earned league MVP honors. Ethan Quinn of Nordhoff also earned all-league first-team honors. Phelps, Woodman, Schurmer and Quinn qualified for the CIF-SS individual playoffs. Malibu qualified for the CIF-SS Division 7 team tournament. Earning all-league second-team honors were Isaac Weslow and Isaac Flores of Fillmore, Josh Lopez and Rocky Manzano of Santa Paula, and Diego Salazar and Reyli Fabian of Hueneme.
