Three-time major winner Jordan Spieth headlines upcoming Texas Hall of Honor class

Eleven former Texas Longhorns athletes will be inducted into the Hall of Honor on Sept. 15, and among them is a UT golfer who only spent one year in Austin.

Before winning his majors, Jordan Spieth spent the 2011-12 year as a Longhorn, becoming a consensus first-team All-American and finalist for the Ben Hogan Award as the national player of the year as he led the Longhorns to the 2012 national championship.

Other men being inducted in UT's 69th class include two-time All-Big 12 wideout Quan Cosby; UT’s career record holder in hits, doubles and RBIs David Denny; 1981 swimming national champion Kris Kirchner; the first African-American student-athlete to participate in UT athletics James H. Means, Jr.; and four-time All-Big 12 offensive tackle Jonathan Scott.

On the women's side, the 24th class includes Olympic silver medalist swimmer Beth Barr; UT's career record-holder for highest 3-point field goal percentage Jamie Carey; two-time Big 12 rower of the year Gia Doonan; UT’s all-time leader in soccer goals Kelly McDonald Freeman; and 11-time All-American track and field star Susan Shurr.

The ceremony will start at 7 p.m. on Sept. 15 in the LBJ Auditorium and Conference Center. Tickets for general admission will be $25 each. During Texas' game vs. Wyoming on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Royal-Memorial Stadium., the new members will be recognized.
