Three new faces on Yankees' 2024 coaching staff under Aaron Boone: See the names

By announcing the addition of Pat Roessler, the New York Yankees finalized manager Aaron Boone’s 2024 coaching staff Wednesday.

Roessler, 64, replaces assistant hitting coach and former MLB player Brad Wilkerson, hired last year. It’s also a homecoming for Roessler, who spent 10 years as the Yankees’ director of player development through 2014.

An assistant hitting coach with the Washington Nationals over the past four seasons, Roessler is familiar with new Yankees slugger Juan Soto, who won three Silver Slugger Awards during that period.

Roessler also served as the Mets’ batting coach in 2018, following three seasons as the club’s assistant hitting coach.

Yankees' coaching staff for 2024

Roessler joins batting coach James Rowson and bench coach Brad Ausmus as the new additions to Boone’s staff, which has seven returnees in pitching coach Matt Blake, bullpen coach Mike Harkey, third base/outfield coach Luis Rojas, first base/infield coach Travis Chapman, assistant pitching coach Desi Druschel, assistant hitting coach Casey Dykes, and field coordinator/catching coach Tanner Swanson.

Last year’s interim batting coach, Sean Casey, opted not to return in 2024, after taking over for the fired Dillon Lawson, since hired by the Boston Red Sox.

Boone’s bench coach of the past four seasons, Carlos Mendoza, was hired as Mets manager.
